2 slices Fresh Italian bread (about 1.5 fingers wide)
4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Build the sandwich, putting a good amount of cheese between two slices of bread.
Put a pan on the stove on medium heat. Allow it to fully heat up. Give it longer than you think.
Brush melted butter over the top of the sandwich liberally, making sure it's covered all the way to the edges.
Once the pan is ready (it should be hot, but not smoking), place the sandwich in the pan butter side down.
While it is cooking, butter the other side of the sandwich as had been done earlier.
Flip the sandwich after just over 1 minute and cook the other side.
Cook that side of the sandwich for a little over 1 minute again. It's okay if you check for doneness a lot, and flipping extra times is not an issue. The bread should be golden brown but not burned. If the bread looks soggy with butter still, fry it a little bit longer until it firms up.
